Serving a complex, demanding and constantly changing sector.
A key sector of the global economy, the tourism industry is a heterogeneous, competitive and constantly changing ecosystem. Our partners rely on us to offer innovative and technologically advanced solutions , adapted to this changing reality.
From monitoring to innovation
Curiosity, rigor and a spirit of experimentation are part of Afidium's DNA.
Our business and technological monitoring continuously feeds our projects, whether it is to respond to current challenges or to prepare for future changes.
Our approaches include in particular:
Analysis of business processes , best practices and areas for improvement
Monitoring emerging technologies and anticipating possible disruptions
Detailed knowledge of key players and systems , their potential and their limits
This fundamental effort has a simple objective: to offer relevant, scalable solutions that generate technological ROI for our clients.
Networked R&D
Tourism stakeholders often share common challenges. Whether partners or competitors, pooling R&D efforts allows for faster and further progress and the validation of the most viable approaches on a market scale.
Afidium is actively involved in several of these dynamics, sometimes since well before its creation:
CEN Workshop – ICT Interoperability in the Tourism Sector : participation in this European Committee for Standardization group and the subsequent publication. This work informed our contributions to XFT and Harmosearch.
XFT Association : development and evolution of the exchange standard currently dominant on the French market (around 50% of tourist exchanges).
Harmosearch Consortium (FP7) : development of a semantic meta‑search platform dedicated to the interoperability of tourism systems.
Horizon 2020 : participation in new European projects related to standardization and interoperability.
Unification of exchanges and interoperability
Designing an interconnected information system is essential for any tourism player today. But between accommodation providers, transporters, service providers, distribution channels and management tools, languages, data structures and protocols vary greatly .
To address this complexity, we have launched an experimental R&D program aimed at creating a generic interoperability solution .
This middleware platform, based on the principle of mediation, allows a client system to interact in real time with other distribution systems, in a transparent, coherent manner and without technical overload.
It is now operational, for example in our Air and Hotel connectors!
Cost and process optimization in tourism
Business processes in tourism are just as complex as the systems themselves. Travel agencies, in particular, need powerful tools to manage the many steps that follow a flight booking, right up to the traveler's departure:
Retrieving information from different sources
Quality control (APIS, SFPD, etc.)
Managing inconsistencies (Minimum Connection Time, etc.)
Taking into account customer requests (pre‑routing, SSR, etc.)
Compliance with specificities and partner agreements (issue deadline, formats, etc.)
If these actions are not handled efficiently, they become cost centers .
Our response: a series of tools and services capable of simplifying, assisting or automating these complex tasks, based on proven technical and business rules (fare optimization, PNR quality control, etc.).
Afidium would like to thank the companies that have placed their trust in us to develop these solutions, implement them and reap the concrete benefits .
